Hubert Hurkacz and Holger Rune are scheduled to take on one another in the second round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Wednesday, November 2.
While there was no doubt who the favorite was in Hubert Hurkacz‘s first round match, his opponent Adrian Mannarino is a thorny character who can make life difficult for top-tier opponents such as the Pole himself. So, while Hurkacz’s opening round win was not the smoothest, he would be pleased to have kept Mannarino out in straight sets to advance to round two. Hurkacz defeated his opponent 7-6 (5), 6-4 in an hour and 50 minutes, relying on 20 aces. It’s worth noting that the Polish number one men’s player faced eight break-points throughout the match and saved them all while converting the only one he got – in the second set.
In terms of form, there aren’t many players who have things going their way like Holger Rune right now. That is also why, despite being a heavy favorite going into his match against Stan Wawrinka, he was nearly tripped out by the Swiss. Rune came through in two hours and 32 minutes, overcoming a first-set loss and three match-points throughout the match to win 4-6, 7-5, 7-6. (3). Despite having three consecutive ATP finals under his belt, Rune lost his serve twice in the match, which was the same number of times he broke his opponent. The difference was made in the final set tie-breaker, which he easily won.
Hubert Hurkacz and Holger Rune are scheduled to take on one another in the second round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Wednesday, November 2. The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 31 to November 6, 2022.
