Hubert Hurkacz hasn’t been in great form recently and looks to start the year on a high. He hasn’t made it to the later stages of any of the major tournaments he has played in the last couple of months. He lost to Rune at the Paris Masters right in the second round and also in the opening round to Thiem at the European Open. He made it to the quarter-finals of the Vienna Open losing to Coric after beating Tiafoe and Ruusuvuori in the first two matches. At the Australian Open, he made it to the fourth round losing to Korda after beating players like Shapovalov, Sonego, and Martinez on the way. At the Rotterdam Open, he made it to the quarter-finals eventually losing to Dimitrov and will be desperate to get good results at the Marseille Open. In the ongoing Marseille Open, he beat Riedi in the round of 16 stage by 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Mikael Ymer has been quite impressive in the last few months and has got some crucial victories under his belt. In his last tournament which was the Rotterdam Open, he made it to the round of 32 stage losing to Griekspoor having made his way from the qualifying stage. At the Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve Challenger, he made it to the finals battling his way against opponents such as Collignon, İlkel, Marozsan, Celikbilek, and Gojo but eventually lost to Goffin in the final. And at the Adelaide International 2, he was looking great until he was beaten by Kwon in the quarter-finals. In the ongoing Marseille Open, he beat Albot in the first-round matchup by 6-3, 7-6, and received a walkover in the round of 16 stage against David Goffin.
