Hubert Hurkacz hasn’t been in great form recently and looks to start the year on a high. He hasn’t made it to the later stages of any of the major tournaments he has played in the last couple of months. He lost to Rune at the Paris Masters right in the second round and also in the opening round to Thiem at the European Open. He made it to the quarter-finals of the Vienna Open losing to Coric after beating Tiafoe and Ruusuvuori in the first two matches. At the Australian Open, he made it to the fourth round losing to Korda after beating players like Shapovalov, Sonego, and Martinez on the way. At the Rotterdam Open, he made it to the quarter-finals eventually losing to Dimitrov and will be desperate to get good results at the Marseille Open.
Leandro Riedi is a complete newcomer to this kind of professional ATP tournament and would be excited to make a name for himself so early in his career. In the last tournament he played at which was the Australian Open, he couldn’t make it past the qualifying stages despite getting the better of his opponents in the first two matches against van Rijthoven and Zeppieri. He was shown the exit door by the Slovakian Svrcina in the final qualifier match. At the Canberra Challenger, he made it to the finals beating the likes of Struff, Broady, Gaston, and Jarry but was sadly beaten by Fucsovics in the big match. At the ongoing Marseille Open, he beat Rinderknech in the first-round matchup by 6-3, 6-4.
