Holger Rune has not been quite consistent recently and looks to start the year on a high. He needs to keep his composure and would be adamant to lift the trophy at Rotterdam. He made it to the semi-finals of the ASB Classic thereby retiring due to an injury before the match against Gasquet. At the Australian Open, he got knocked out by Norrie in the second round. In the ongoing Rotterdam Open, he faced Marterer in the first qualifier beating him by 7-6, 7-6, and then knocked out Basilashvili in the second qualifier by 7-5, 6-4.
