Dutch tennis player Arianne Hartono will face Brit Katie Swan in the first round of the 2022 Chennai Open. Before that, the Dutchwoman had taken part in the WTA 125K event at Vancouver but was eliminated in the second round after losing 6-2, 2-6, 3-6 to Emma Navarro. The Chennai Open sets a good stage for Hartono to step out of her comfort zone and deliver a performance that could put her on the map of world tennis.

The Chennai Open will be the first competitive competition for Katie Swan in over a month. The player from Great Britain might have been out of action for a considerable amount of time but her last tournament was one to remember. Swan won the ITF USA 35A competition after defeating second seed Jodie Anna Burrage in the final by a score of 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. She will be hoping to bring the same form to India.

The 2022 WTA Chennai Open is scheduled to commence on September 12 and go on until September 18 this year. The tournament will have five rounds of play excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.
