Caroline Garcia and Alison Riske are scheduled to face one another in a round of 16 match of the US Open 2022 on Sunday, September 4.
Bianca Andreescu is a former US Open champion whose game has recently shown signs of slowly returning to those levels. She is still a few steps away from top gear, but she was expected to give Caroline Garcia a run for her money in their third round match. Garcia’s current level of play, on the other hand, is a different story. And for the third match in a row at the US Open, and the 11th in a row overall, the world number 17 ran wild, leaving Andreescu with no artillery to deal with the Frenchwoman. She was on court for less than an hour and a half, overcoming a serve break in both sets.
Alison Riske entered her match as a clear favorite for the second straight time, but her opponent made her work extremely hard before winning. Riske defeated Xiyu Wang 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to advance to the fourth round of the US Open for the first time since 2013. She had to win in three sets to defeat Maria Osorio Serrano in the second round. Riske played for two hours and fifteen minutes while 11 serves were broken throughout the match, including five in the deciding set. Before Riske broke Wang, four of those came in a row as she attempted to stay in the fight.
Caroline Garcia and Alison Riske are scheduled to face one another in a round of 16 match of the US Open 2022 on Sunday, September 4. The 2022 US Open is all set to begin from August 29 till September 11.
