Taylor Fritz and Alejandro Davidovich are scheduled to take on one another in the first round of the 2022 Paris Masters on October 31.
Taylor Fritz is still chasing the ATP Finals, but the American needs to win the vent to have a chance. He performed admirably in Paris last week, and if he can repeat his performance, he may have a chance. They’ve played three times so far, with Fokina leading 2-1, but all three games have been played on play, which is the far superior surface for the Spaniard. Fritz evidently has the edge on hard courts, but he hasn’t been playing well recently. His most recent successful event was the Tokyo 500, which he won. Since then, his performances have been mostly lackluster, with a foot injury troubling him in Vienna last week when Shapovalov proved his worth.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has not been playing well recently, with his most recent event being the US Open, where he won consecutive matches. Since then, he has mostly lost in round one, losing in Gijon, Astana, and Basel. He’s unlikely to change that in Paris because he’ll be facing a better and more motivated opponent. He’d like to end the season on a high note, but indoors are one of his terrible surfaces, and he’s struggled there in the past. He’s 0-5 this year and 9-10 last year, so it’s clear that this isn’t his best surface. His serve isn’t strong enough to be used as a weapon. His groundstrokes can also be hit-or-miss, but his pace could be an advantage.
Taylor Fritz and Alejandro Davidovich are scheduled to take on one another in the first round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Monday, October 31. The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 31 to November 6, 2022.
