Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina, ranked 35th in the world, will face Lorenzo Musetti, ranked 62nd, in the 2022 ATP Hamburg Open quarterfinal on Friday.

Davidovich-Fokina has had a successful comeback after losing to Sebastian Baez in the second round of the Bastad Open, and he is now competing in the tournament in Hamburg. The Spaniard easily won again in the second round after shocking Botic van de Zandschulp in the first round with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Jozef Kovalik was soundly defeated by Davidovich-Fokina, who won 6-2, 6-2. Davidovich-Fokina lived up to the top billing after entering that match as the 1/5 favourite because it took him just an hour and 11 minutes to advance. In both sets, Davidovich-Fokina successfully broke a few serves for himself, but she never faced a break point the entire match.
Dusan Lajovic gave Lorenzo Musetti a good working over in the first round, but he was able to have a calmer time of it in the second round when he defeated Emil Ruusuvuori in straight sets. In a battle that lasted one hour and 53 minutes, Musetti prevailed 6-4, 7-5 to go to the round of eight. The Italian got off to a fast start, leading 2-0 in the opening set and holding on to his lone break of serve to take the lead in the match. Ruusuvuori was able to put up a little bit of a fight in the second as they squared off over their service breaks. In the 10th game, Musetti had a chance to serve it out, but he was finally successful in doing so in the 12th game, winning it off his eighth match-point.
Davidovic Fokina and Lorenzo Musetti will take on each other on Friday, July 22 in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 ATP Hamburg European open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 18 and conclude on July 24 this year.

The 2022 Hamburg European Open will have five rounds of play both for the ATP and WTA competitors. These are the first round, second round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 18 to July 24, but the qualifiers will commence from July 16 for both the men’s and women’s categories.
