Tomas Etcheverry and Jason Kubler will take on each other on Wednesday August 3rd in the round of 32 the 2022 Los Cabos open.
Tomas Etcheverry has progressed considerably over the last two years and is currently ranked in the top 100. He’ll try to maintain his ascent and develop even more, but it’ll be more difficult now that the season starts on hard courts. Being an Argentine means that you prefer clay tennis over hard court tennis, and Tomas is no exception. Etcheverry played the great majority of his matches on clay, where he is 33-18. He only played five hard court matches all year, but he was good with 2-3. He possesses a strong serve and a unique style of play, but he hasn’t been playing well lately.
Jason Kubler had an outstanding grass season, but he was unable to cash in on his Wimbledon points. The Australian is now ranked lower than he would have been otherwise, but he’s been playing so brilliantly that it doesn’t matter. Kubler had a slow start to the year, but he improved month by month and is now comfortable playing in the top 50. It remains to be seen whether he can reach there before the end of the year, but the confidence is there and his play is looking strong. Kubler possesses a traditional Aussie game that is especially threatening on quicker courts. He is 41-12 this season, with his most recent appearance in Newport concluding in a semi-final.
Tomas Etcheverry and Jason Kubler will take on each other on Wednesday August 3rd in the round of 32 the 2022 Los Cabos open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 30 and conclude on August 6 this year.
