By defeating Karen Khachanov in this week’s quarterfinal, Jack Draper successfully atoned for his losses to the Russian at the 2017 US Open and the Adelaide 1 last week. When serving for the match at 5-4 in the second set, he made his first serve error. However, he quickly regained composure and won the tiebreaker 6-4 7-6. So far in 2022, the gifted young Brit has competed in five relatively brief matches and won four of them. Nine of the ten sets had ten or fewer games played in each of them, and all five matches were won in straight sets.
It appeared as though Soon Woo Kwon would have another disappointing week in 2023 after losing in the final qualifying round. He was given a second chance as a lucky loser, though, and he took it, changing his fate. In Eastbourne, where he also entered the main draw as a lucky loser, the South Korean No. 1 made his first semifinal appearance on the main tour two years ago. There, he fought bravely against Alex de Minaur, losing 3-6, 6-7 in SF. The 2021 ATP Astana champion wasn’t able to string together consecutive main-draw victories for the first time throughout the year until his final ATP event of the 2022 season, which ultimately led to a successful campaign.

Jack Draper has a 1-0 advantage. The British fighter, who dominated Soon Woo Kwon in Adelaide just a few days prior, should be able to defeat the Korean as long as he is healthy and at his peak performance.
