2022 Next Gen ATP semi-finalist Jack Draper recorded a comfortable victory over Soonwoo Kwon in the first round of the 2023 Adelaide International 1 on Monday. The score at the end of the match was 6-2, 6-1 in the Britton’s favour. Draper recorded eight aces in the match and converted five out of 12 break points. His win percentage on the first and second serves were 86% and 92% respectively. Draper finished the 2022 season on a positive note as he reached the last four of the Next Gen ATP Finals. The 21-year-old, who is Britain’s no. 3 tennis player at the moment, had defeated the likes of Tseng Chun-hsin and Lorenzo Musetti in the competition.
Eighth seed Karen Khachanov cut a composed figure as he eased to victory against Pedro Cachin on Monday. The score at the end of the first round match was 6-2, 6-4 in the Russian’s favour. Khachanov registered six aces in the match and converted four out of 12 break points. He also recorded win percentages of 89% and 45% on the first and second serves respectively.
