Both prior matches between these two players took place on the clay courts of the Belgrade Open, and both were won by Novak Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic, world number three, top seed, and three-time reigning champion, will face fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic in the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon on Friday, July 1. Both prior matches between these two players took place on the clay courts of the Belgrade Open, and both were won by Novak Djokovic. Unfortunately for Kokkinakis, Djokovic brought his A-game and cruised to win, advancing him to the third round. With Djokovic’s road to the final growing clearer as opponents withdraw, it remains to be seen if anyone, much alone Kecmanovic, can put the top seed to the test.
Kecmanovic qualified for Wimbledon’s third round for the first time in his career after four sets and a little under three hours of play. The world number 30, who is also at his highest ranking in his career, had previously lost both of his first-round games on grass, at Halle and Mallorca, but then defeated John Millman in four sets in his opening encounter.
Djokovic vs Kecmanovic are scheduled to face each other on Friday, July 1 in the second round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championship is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches in the first round as the likes of Djokovic, Alcaraz, Murray, Shapovalov and others were in action.
