Grigor Dimitrov and Jiri Lehecka are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 ATP Stockholm Open on Monday, October 17.
Grigor Dimitrov has not played since the Sofia Open, where he was eliminated early by Ilya Ivashka. It was the second event in a row that he lost in the first round, so he decided to take a break and recover in his native Bulgaria. Only time will tell whether it was a wise decision, but he will play in Stockholm and Paris to finish the year. The Bulgarian has had an odd year, going 21-19 with some impressive wins but also some shockingly poor performances. He’s not at his best and hasn’t played like that in a long time, but indoors has always been kind to him, and he’s a former finalist in Stockholm.
Jiri Lehecka has not been playing well lately; the Czech player finds it difficult to record victories. There is no denying that his one victory in the previous 30 days came against Tim Van Rijthoven, which is pretty solid, but he is still far below the level he displayed earlier this year. He is still far from that objective even though it was a level deserving of a top 50 debut when it stalled. With a 38-28 record overall and the majority of his victories occurring on clay, the year was successful overall. Because hard courts are still not his best surface, that contributes to some of his difficulties.
Grigor Dimitrov and Jiri Lehecka are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 ATP Stockholm Open on Monday, October 17. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 17 and end on October 23.
