Seeded seventh in the tournament, Danielle Collins will be coming into the tournament underprepared on grass.
American tennis player Danielle Collins will begin her 2022 Wimbledon campaign with a first round match against Czech Republic’s Marie Bouzkova. Seeded seventh in the tournament, Collins will be coming into the tournament underprepared on grass. She had taken part in any competitive tennis action since the French Open where she was shockingly defeated in the second round by compatriot Shelby Rogers. Coming into The Championships, Collins will be hoping for a change in her fortunes and go deep into the most prestigious Grand Slam.
Things have not exactly been best for Collins’ first round opponent Bouzkova who had to withdraw from the second round of the French Open due to an injury. Following that, she took part in the Eastbourne International where she was beaten in the round of 64 by Shelby Rogers. The unseeded Czech will be hoping to cause a few upsets on the Wimbledon grass but on paper, Collins should have a comfortable victory.
Collins and Bouzkova are scheduled to face each other on Monday, June 27 in the first round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There are a number of exciting matches on opening day as the likes of Swiatek, Badosa, Sakkari, Raducanu, Halep and others will be in action.
