Denis Shapovalov and Pablo Carreno Busta are scheduled to take on one another in the second round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Wednesday, November 2.
Denis Shapovalov had to fight hard for his victory in the opening round of this year’s Paris Masters against rookie Francisco Cerundolo. The Argentine came back from a break down to win the first set in a tiebreaker, but the Canadian fought back to win the next two games without facing a breakpoint, 6-7 6-3 6-4. With this comeback victory, the former Canadian number one extended his unbeaten streak in first-round matches to seven tournaments, dating back to the Cincinnati Masters in August. He finally found some consistency in the second part of the year, and his efforts enabled him re-enter the top 20 of the ATP rankings.
Pablo Carreno Busta easily defeated compatriot and clay-courter Albert Ramos Vinolas to go to the second round of the Paris Masters. He defeated clay-court specialists — Thiago Monteiro, Fabio Fognini, and Sebastian Baez — in the first round of his past three hard-court appearances, but couldn’t advance further in either of those events in Gijon (QF, R1 bye), Napoli (QF, R1 bye), and Basel (QF). The former Paris Masters quarterfinalist has a 1-3 record in second-round matches in the tournament, with his last two appearances ending in defeat to lefties Rafael Nadal in 2020 and Hugo Gaston in 2021.
Pablo Carreno Busta and Denis Shapovalov are scheduled to take on one another in the second round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Wednesday, November 2. The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 31 to November 6, 2022.
The ATP Paris Masters 2022 will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 31, 2022 and conclude on November 6, 2022.
