Despite being a 21/10 underdog in her match against Irina Begu, Bogdan won in straight sets and advanced to her second consecutive season semifinal. Ana Bogdan won 6-2, 7-6 (6) in two contrasting sets after a nearly two-hour match. Bogdan easily won the first set, racing ahead with two breaks of serve, and while she was broken back once, the Romanian player broke right back to clinch it. Begu would have thought she had a good chance in the second. Bogdan fell behind 0-2 but had a chance to serve for the match at 5-4 before Begu forced a tie-breaker. Bogdan was then down two set-points, which she saved, winning four points in a row to win the match.

Mayar Sherif reached her first WTA 250 semifinal of the season with a straight-set win over Lauren Davis, having previously reached WTA 125 semifinals. And she now faces Bogdan in an attempt to reach her second WTA final, having done so in Romania last year in a clay-court tournament. Sherif, who had earlier beaten Anna Bondar and Simona Waltert in the first two rounds, overcame a slow start to defeat her American opponent 7-6 (2), 6-3. The two players traded early breaks in an hour and 49 minutes of play before Sherif missed three break-points. The set was decided in a tie-breaker, which Sherif easily won. The second set appeared to be following a similar pattern when they broke each other once to go up 3-2, but Sherif then ran away with the match, winning four of the next five games and the match.
