This season, Quentin Halys has demonstrated outstanding form at the Challenger level, which has helped him move up the rankings significantly. The Frenchman, who was languishing at No. 151 at the beginning of the year, has steadily risen this year, breaking into the top 100 and attaining a career-high position of 73 this week. His season’s highlights included Challenger victories in Pau and Lille as well as second-place results in Forli, Turin, and Bordeaux. The 25-year-old is 4-6 on the tour this year, losing most recently last week in the opening round of the Atlanta Open.
Ricardas Berankis’ season this year was capped off by a quarterfinal showing in Dubai. In addition to participating in a Challenger final in Lille, the World No. 98 hasn’t had much success this year other than those two achievements. The Lithuanian enters the competition with a 7-8 season record and is expected to make his Los Cabos debut. The 32-year-old is 4-4 on hard courts this season and has a 108-101 lifetime record there. Although he has never claimed an ATP championship, he has placed second twice, both times on hard courts. Berankis will be motivated to perform well in order to remain in the top 100.
