Badosa, who last week lost her Eastbourne opening to Jodie Burrage, has bounced back to secure her spot in the Wimbledon third round.
Twenty-fifth seed Petra Kvitova and fourth Paula Badosa will face off in the third round at Wimbledon after each won their respective second-round matches in straight sets. Kvitova, a two-time champion, defeated Ana Bogdan with a late flurry to win 6-1, 7-6(5), while Badosa defeated Irina Bara with a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Kvitova was undefeated at SW19 between 2010 and 2014, winning the Venus Rosewater Dish in 2011 and 2014. Nevertheless, the Czech has only made it to the final 32 once since 2015. Kvitova, the Eastbourne champion, now has a seven-match winning streak.
Badosa, who last week lost her Eastbourne opening to Jodie Burrage, has bounced back to secure her spot in the Wimbledon third round for the second consecutive year. In five of the last six majors, the 24-year-old has at least made it to that point.
