Kvitova, a two-time champion, defeated Ana Bogdan with a late flurry to win 6-1, 7-6(5), while Badosa defeated Irina Bara with a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Kvitova was undefeated at SW19 between 2010 and 2014, winning the Venus Rosewater Dish in 2011 and 2014. Nevertheless, the Czech has only made it to the final 32 once since 2015.
