Felix Auger-Aliassime and Mikael Ymer will take on one another in the second round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Wednesday, November 2.
Despite reaching the finals on multiple occasions, Felix Auger-Aliassime had yet to win an ATP title until last year. Auger-Aliassime began his title-winning streak in Rotterdam in February, but no one could have predicted what was to come. He played in 13 matches in the three tournaments preceding this one in Paris, winning each one to add three more trophies to his collection. Aliassime won the tournament in Florence by crushing JJ Wolf in straight sets, then defeated Sebastian Korda in the Antwerp final before winning the title in Basel. The big losers in that tournament were Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune, as Auger-Aliassime eventually started to live up towards the caliber that he had been intriguing for a while.
Mikael Ymer was ranked 99th in the world early in October, but regardless of the outcome of this match, he will have broken into the top 70 for the first time in his career. The Swede, who beat Constant Lestienne and Jiri Lehecka in the qualifiers to make the main draw, then knocked out Alexander Bublik in the first round with a three-set win. He beat Bublik 6-1, 6-7 (2), 6-4 in two hours and ten minutes to set up this meeting with the Canadian. Despite his opponent’s 16 aces, Ymer overcame his only break of serve in the first game of the first set and a second tie-breaker flounder to advance to the second round for the first time at Paris.
Felix Auger-Aliassime and Mikael Ymer are scheduled to take on one another in the second round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Wednesday, November 2. The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 31 to November 6, 2022.
The ATP Paris Masters 2022 will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 31, 2022 and conclude on November 6, 2022.
