Felix Auger-Aliassime and Frances Tiafoe will take on one another in the quarter finals of the 2022 Paris Masters on Friday, November 4.
A day after defeating Mikael Ymer in three hours and 30 minutes in the second round, eighth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime breezed past Gilles Simon to reach his first quarterfinal of the Paris Masters. The win extended the Canadian’s winning streak to 15 matches, and he is now two wins away from a fourth consecutive final and three wins away from a fourth consecutive title. Over the last three weeks, Auger-Aliassime has won three consecutive titles in Florence, Antwerp, and Basel, and he has continued his winning streak in Paris. The 22-year-old, who had previously lost all eight finals, has won four titles from five finals this year, including a title in Rotterdam and a runner-up finish in Marseille.
On Thursday, world no. 21 Frances Tiafoe won his third consecutive straight sets match in the tournament, advancing to his second Masters 1000 quarterfinal and first in Paris. The American, who had not been broken in his first two matches, faced a stiff challenge in the third round, needing an hour and 41 minutes to beat Alex de Minaur 6-3, 7-6. (7-5). The American faced no break points in his first-round victory over Sonego and saved seven of seven against Draper in the second round. At the US Open, he reached his first major semifinal. This season, he has reached two finals, finishing runner-up in Estoril and Tokyo.
