En route to the title, the Hyderabad native overcame Stephanie Loeuillette with a 3-1 win and managed a tight quarterfinal victory over top-seeded Amy Wang, edging her out with nail-biting scores of 11-9, 9-11, 11-1, 6-11, 11-9. In the final against world No. 37 Zhang, Sreeja led 2-1 before Zhang fought back to even the score.

In early January, Sreeja clinched her first international victory at the WTT Feeder event in Corpus Christi by beating three-time Olympian Lily Zhang from the USA with a straight-set win of 3-0, boasting scores of 11-6, 18-17, and 11-5 in the decisive match. The WTT Feeder Series is a sports event for upcoming and local table tennis talents to showcase their skills internationally.

In January, she continued to impress, making it to the quarterfinals of the WTT Star Contender in Goa. Her run was halted by China’s Cheng I-Ching with a score of 3-1. Cheng later won the entire tournament. These strong showings helped the skilled player jump from the 94th to the 50th position in world rankings.

Remarkably, Sreeja is now the second Indian player to break into the top 50 after Manika Batra, who currently is ranked 37th. At 25 years old, the two-time national champ Sreeja is on the Indian women’s team going to the Paris Games this year.
