The World Snooker Tour 2023-24, also known as the professional snooker 2023-24 season, began from June 26, 2023, and will run until May 6, 2024. The matches will witness a formidable lineup of 130 proficient players participating in the World Snooker Tour. Unfortunately, three of the leading players, Zhao Xintong, Yan Bingtao, and Lu Ning, who were ranked among the top 68 based on the prize money from the 2023 World Championship, are sitting out this season due to bans related to match-fixing allegations.
Similarly, 34 of the 35 players who earned a two-year card in the previous year will be seen in action, excluding Bai Langning who also faces a match-fixing ban. The upcoming season will also feature fresh faces from various platforms, including top performers from the One Year Ranking List, international championships, the Q Tour, CBSA China Tour, and World Women’s Snooker.
The 2023 Q School has paved the way for 8 new contenders, with four from each of its two events. An additional four spots were filled by the Asia-Oceania Q School’s top performers. The last coveted tour card was an invitational one, handed to Marco Fu. Thus, the season holds promise for a dynamic and highly competitive play, despite the unfortunate absences.
Let’s take a look at the World Snooker Tour 2023-24 season.
