Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene has confirmed the club’s decision to part ways with Paulo Dybala once his contract expires at the end of the season. The Argentine playmaker will not be signing a contract renewal with the club, meaning that his seven-year association with the Turin club will be drawing to a close in June. Meanwhile many top European clubs are in the race to sign the highly-rated midfielder and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a contract offer.

As collected by TuttoMercatoWeb, Arrivabene discussed Dybala’s departure in an interview earlier this evening.

“The most important change is that Juventus have not renewed Paulo Dybala’s contract. With the market I reiterated this, the approach was sincere.

“With the purchases made in January, with the arrival of Vlahovic, Paulo’s position was no longer at the centre of the project. That’s why this kind of decision was preferred.

“The parameters were different, I had already spoken about it, no one has ever questioned Paulo’s ability. There were considerations to be made about appearances, length and financial considerations.

“We made our choices in January, we got here. It would have been easy for Juventus to make a low bid, but it would have been disrespectful towards Paulo. The decision is made. Today’s meeting was friendly, clear and respectful.”

The Argentina international has grown into one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe since moving to Turin in 2015. The 28-year- old tasted great success in his early years with Juventus but he did fall off the radar for a season or two when he was used out of position.

This season, he has made 28 appearances in all competitions so far, scoring 13 times and registering six assists. Although talks over a contract extension were held, an agreement wasn’t finalised and the Argentine footballer is ready to move on from Turin as he is reportedly unhappy with the club’s contract offer.
