The World Junior Wushu Championships (WJWC) 2022 got underway on December 3 and will continue till December 11, 2022, in Tangerang, Banten.
The World Junior Wushu Championships (WJWC) 2022 got underway on December 3 and will continue till December 11, 2022, in Tangerang, Banten in Indonesia. This will be the eighth iteration of the competition. The tournament is the official world championship event for juniors that is hosted by the International Wushu Federation. The WJWC, which was first held in 2006, is the official apex junior championship of the IWUF and features the junior athletes who compete at the greatest level of skill in the sport of wushu. Boys and girls compete in ‘taolu’ and ‘sanda’ at the World Junior Wushu Championships. The event is held on a biannual basis.
The last edition of the competition was held in Brasil in which Iran topped the team standings collecting a total of 26 medals, out of which 11 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze medals. Hong Kong (23) and the United States of America (16) finished second and third respectively. China has won the most number of gold medals (34) since the 2014 edition of the event.
