Born on March 19, 1989, in Port Charlotte, Florida, Vincent Charles Hancock, popularly known as Vincent Hancock, is a renowned skeet shooter. He is known worldwide for being a three-time Olympic gold medalist, grabbing success in Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Tokyo 2020. With his triumph in 2008 and 2012, he became the first-ever skeet shooter to achieve back-to-back Olympic gold medals.
He started achieving greater heights at a very young age. When he was 16 years old, Vincent Hancock bagged the men’s skeet World Championship title in 2005. The same year, his talent received global recognition with the Shooter of the Year award from the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). Again at the age of 20, in 2009, Vincent Hancock accomplished his second World Championship gold.
Vincent Hancock pursued a degree in business management from Troy University, Alabama, graduating in 2014. Later, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. In 2015, Vincent etched history by becoming only the third shooter to claim three men’s skeet World Championship golds. His participation in nine World Championships has garnered him a commendable 29 medals and consolidated his status as one of the legendary athletes in the sport.
However, Vincent’s journey in the Rio Olympics 2016 was a bit disappointing as he finished 15th in the qualifications and failed to reach the medal round. However, he came back stronger in the next edition and clinched the gold medal at the postponed Tokyo Olympics 2020 in 2021 as he got past top competitors like Denmark’s Jesper Hansen and Abdullah Alrashidi from Kuwait. Having earned five world championship titles, a silver and bronze in the individual skeet, and numerous team medals at the ISSF World Championship, Hancock stands tall in the international shooting arena.
