The momentum from the seven medals, including a historic gold in Athletics at the Tokyo Olympics, has only intensified following an impressive haul of over 100 medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games. This surge in performance is a testament to the burgeoning sports ecosystem in India and the relentless efforts of the Indian government to nurture and support its athletes.

In a recent interview with the Times of India, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur, expressed his optimism about India’s prospects at the Paris Olympics.

“India’s performance at Asian Games 2022, where our athletes breached the 100-medal mark, proves their growing ability as medal winners in important international events. I am confident that the same performance tempo will continue at the Paris Olympics. The athletes prepare well with extended support through the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) and the Annual Calendar for Training and Competition (ACTC).
