Paralympics 2024: Singhraj Adhana earns India's third Paris games quota at the Para Shooting World Championships 2022

The Indian shooter accomplished this feat after his fourth-place performance with a score of 191.3 in the P1 Men's 10m Air Pistol SH1 event.

Double Tokyo Paralympic medalist Singhraj Adhana secured India’s third Paris Paralympics 2024 quota at the ongoing Para Shooting World Championship in Al Ain in the UAE.  The Indian shooter accomplished this feat after his fourth-place performance with a score of 191.3 in the P1 Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event. Earlier, Avani Lekhara and Sriharsha Devaraddi Ramakrishna had given India their two quota spots in the R2 – women’s 10m air rifle standing and R4 – mixed 10m air rifle SH2 events at the Para Shooting World Cup Chateauroux 2022.

He was in a great position to land on the podium at the World Championships as well. However, he was eliminated after shooting a below-par 7 on his 19th shot, which dropped him from second to fourth place. With a score of 235.7, Korea’s Jo Jengdu won the gold, followed by Poland’s Sowinski Szymon (233.1) and Ibragimov Server (213.3). Manish Narwal, the Tokyo 2020 champion, came in sixth while Nihal Singh, came fifth, among the other Indians competing in the men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 final.

However, Singhraj alongside Manish Narwal and Nihal Singh claimed the second gold medal for India in the ongoing championship in the team event of the P1- Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1. Manish’s 575-17x helped the Indian squad earn a combined score of 1704-34x. The first gold was won by Rahul Jakhar, Singhraj and Nihal Singh claimed the gold in the P3 team event 25 meter pistol mixed SH1 event. Rahul Jakhar earlier started India’s medal campaign at the competition by winning a bronze medal in the P3 Mixed 25m Pistol SH1. He got the better of compatriot Nihal in the bronze medal shoot-off.

Hailing from Faridabad Haryana, Singhraj earned a silver medal in the Mixed 50m pistol SH1 and a bronze medal in the men’s P1 10 meter air pistol SH1 at the Summer Paralympics 2020. He has previously collected numerous medals for India in the previous edition of the WSPS World Cups and is among the finest para shooters of India.
