SonyLiv will stream live coverage of the finals for the compound and recurve divisions of the Archery World Cup 2023 in Shanghai
Atanu Das, the two-time Olympian, and Jyothi Surekha Vennam, the world championships silver medalist, will head the Indian challenge at the second stage of the Archery World Cup 2023 in Shanghai, China, which is scheduled to take place from May 16 to 21, 2023. For the second archery World Cup of the year, India will compete with a 16-person team that includes eight men and eight women. Veteran Olympian Tarundeep Rai will also be competing in the world cup. Both compound and recurve archers will compete at the Shanghai meet.
The recurve archery competition for India will be led by Atanu Das at the Archery World Cup 2023 Shanghai. Dhiraj Bommadevara, Neeraj Chauhan, and Tarundeep Rai will also compete for India in the men’s recurve archery team. Atanu Das, Dhiraj Bommadevara, and Tarundeep Rai won silver in the men’s recurve team event at the first stage of the Archery World Cup in April in Antalya, Turkey. Bhajan Kaur, Ankita Bhakat, Aditi Jaiswal, and Simranjeet Kaur will be on the women’s recurve team at the same time.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam will be India’s best medal hope in compound archery at the Archery World Cup 2023 Shanghai. The 26-year-old tied the world record score (713 out of a possible 720 points) in the women’s compound event qualification round at the first stage of the World Cup which took place in Antalya. Jyothi won two gold medals in the women’s compound and the mixed team competition at Archery World Cup stage 1. The Indian archers finished the Antalya leg with a total of four medals- two gold, one silver, and one bronze and will attempt to increase that total in Shanghai. The Archery World Cup final will be held in Hermosillo, Mexico in September, and archers who win the individual events in Shanghai will be automatically qualified.
