Tawanchai PK Saenchai, the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion, will begin his road to two-sport success on Friday, August 4. That evening, the Thai sensation will square off against Georgian attacker Davit Kiria in a featherweight kickboxing match at ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian on Prime Video, which will be televised live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

Tawanchai has been the center of attention since his ONE Championship debut in May 2021. So far, he has delivered. The 24-year-old Bangkok native has won over a global fan following with a string of highlight-reel knockouts in the Muay Thai competition, including the finishes of Sean Clancy, Saemapetch Fairtex, and Niclas Larsen. But it was in September 2022 that he dethroned longstanding ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Petchmorakot Petchyindee to capture the crown.

Tawanchai PK Saenchai steps into the realm of kickboxing

He will bring his near-flawless striking arsenal and staggering 129-31-2 record to kickboxing, where he aspires to reach the elusive “champ-champ” designation. For his first mission, he creates Kiria, a battle-hardened veteran who was once regarded as the world’s best lightweight kickboxer.

Kiria, a former Glory Lightweight World Champion and Kunlun Fight World Max Tournament Champion has struggled in the promotion’s featherweight division, which is widely regarded as the most loaded in the whole combat sports business today. Despite defeating Enriko Kehl in a thrilling three-round fight, he was defeated by pound-for-pound greats Giorgio Petrosyan and Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong.

Kiria stayed active on the European circuit after losing to Moroccan prodigy Mohammed Boutasaa in May 2022, picking up a couple of important victories. Now, he returns to the global stage, hoping to make a statement at the cost of the featherweight Muay Thai king.
