The ongoing banter between tech moguls Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg has taken a combative twist with ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong publicly criticizing Musk’s approach as “bullying.” The two billionaires have been engaged in a lighthearted social media feud playfully discussing the terms of a potential fight. However, Sityodtong’s recent comments shed light on the potential consequences of their online banter.
The feud began when Elon Musk tweeted a challenge to Zuckerberg proposing a fight at his house and jokingly offering tea bags as an icebreaker. In response, Zuckerberg insisted on the fight happening either in the UFC or under the banner of ONE Championship a martial arts organization. Musk then hinted at driving a Tesla to Zuckerberg’s house inviting him to open the door and kick-starting the fight.
Chatri Sityodtong oversees ONE Championship and has a strong background in martial arts. He took issue with Musk’s behavior calling him out for bullying and displaying a lack of understanding of fighting and martial arts. In a Facebook post, Sityodtong voiced his concerns acknowledging Elon Musk’s achievements as an entrepreneur but expressing his disapproval of Musk’s actions.
Sityodtong highlighted that Elon Musk’s lack of experience in fighting and martial arts is evident in his bravado. He explained that individuals who have not trained or fought often exhibit a misguided sense of confidence, underestimating the technical skills and knowledge that martial artists possess. Drawing from his own experience as a lifelong martial artist. Sityodtong expressed his dislike for any form of bullying and emphasized the importance of respecting discipline.
During his critique, Sityodtong also addressed the excuses Musk has been making to avoid the fight including references to undergoing surgery. He asserted that Zuckerberg, with his training and fighting shape. He stands a high chance of prevailing in a fight against Musk. Sityodtong acknowledged the size and weight advantage Musk holds but stressed that skill often triumphs over sheer size especially when there is a significant skill disparity.
While Sityodtong did not dismiss Musk’s chances entirely. He emphasized that fighting is unpredictable and that anything can happen in the heat of the moment. He underscored the importance of skill, experience, and technique in martial arts, asserting that Mark Zuckerberg’s training and dedication give him a competitive edge.
