The PFL Season 5 is headed towards an exciting climax, with the lightweight and welterweight tournament finals now officially set. The lightweight division will see Clay Collard take on Olivier Aubin-Mercier, while the welterweight title will be contested between Magomed Magomedkerimov and Sadibou Sy.

In a thrilling main event at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. Clay Collard and Shane Burgos delivered a “Fight of the Year” contender. With over 600 strikes thrown between them, the fight was a brutal showcase of their ferocious competitiveness. Collard’s strategic targeting of Burgos’ body and head earned him a unanimous decision victory, securing his spot in the finals. Despite a valiant effort from Burgos. It was Collard’s early work and a second-round knockdown that ultimately swayed the judges.

Olivier Aubin-Mercier is the Season 4 winner. He is making a return to the finals after an impressive performance against Bruno Miranda. Aubin-Mercier showcased his ground-and-pound skills, finishing the fight with a flurry of strikes on the ground that forced the referee’s intervention in the second round. His victory sets up a showdown with Collard in the lightweight championship.

Meanwhile, in the welterweight division, Season 4 champion Sadibou Sy demonstrated his versatility in a hard-fought battle against Carlos Leal. Leal’s game plan revolved around smothering Sy with takedowns but Sy’s ability to fend off the takedowns and showcase his striking game earned him a split-decision victory. Despite one judge scoring the fight in favor of Leal. Sy secured his spot in the finals with a unanimous decision win.

Magomed Magomedkerimov is the Season 1 welterweight champion and he proved his dominance with a shutout performance against Solomon Renfro. Magomedkerimov’s calculated approach included sniping at a distance with kicks and expertly transitioning to takedowns. Renfro’s late surge in the fight wasn’t enough to overcome Magomedkerimov’s early control as all three judges awarded him a unanimous 30-27 victory.

In a notable undercard fight, Biaggio Ali Walsh the grandson of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali continued his impressive MMA journey with a fifth consecutive knockout victory. A three-punch combination resulted in a hard knockdown of Ed Walsh in the second round. While there was some controversy over the referee’s early stoppage. The win accomplished the PFL’s goal of building Ali Walsh’s star power in the MMA world.
