Dillon Danis is a training partner of former UFC dual-champion Conor McGregor. He has expressed skepticism about McGregor’s potential venture into the world of influencer boxing. McGregor famously stepped into the boxing ring against undefeated legend Floyd Mayweather in 2017 and put up a spirited effort in a TKO loss. Since then, McGregor hasn’t returned to boxing.

While McGregor recently called out influencer KSI for a bare-knuckle boxing match. Danis believes that McGregor often referred to as “The Notorious” is in a league of his own and wouldn’t likely entertain the idea of facing an influencer in the boxing ring.

In a recent appearance on the Full Send Podcast, Danis voiced his thoughts on the matter, saying, “I think that’s just stupid. I think Conor’s the Muhammad Ali of fighting. The guys that are taking these fights are because they’re broke. They need the money. Conor is the GOAT of fighting, and I don’t think he would do it.”

Danis himself is set to step into the boxing ring for a six-round bout against Logan Paul on October 14. He expressed his belief that McGregor’s status as a fighting icon sets him apart from those who choose influencer boxing as a path. He believes that McGregor’s legacy and reputation as one of the greatest fighters would likely prevent him from participating in such matchups.

As for his own upcoming boxing match, Danis will face Logan Paul on “The PRIME Card” under the Misfits Boxing banner. The event is headlined by Tommy Fury vs KSI and is set to take place at the AO Arena in Manchester, England, with the pay-per-view stream available on DAZN.

Interestingly, McGregor has stated that he will assist in training Danis for his boxing debut against Paul. However, Danis revealed that plans to promote the fight took a hit when a joint appearance alongside Paul during a WWE show got canceled. Despite that, Danis has been actively engaging in verbal exchanges with Paul even taking jabs at Paul’s promotion efforts.

Reflecting on the canceled promotional plans Danis explained, “We were supposed to promote the fight on that card and they canceled that. Logan and I were going to do a ‘Smackdown’ and Conor was maybe going to come out with me and confront Logan at a ‘Smackdown’ at MSG when Conor was here, and then that didn’t happen. He can’t say anything about promoting. He’s the one that hasn’t promoted sh*t.”
