Anderson Silva, the former UFC middleweight champion, may return to Japan for his final MMA bout. “The Spider” revealed to MMA Fighting on Friday that he’s now working on two independent film projects while promoting Murder City ahead of tonight’s American Black Film Festival (ABFF) in Miami. Silva, who plays “Angus” in the film, will return to combat sports after his projects are completed.

“I’m now focused on these two projects and pretty soon we’ll have something nice regarding fighting,” Silva said. “We’re in talks with Japan for a possible last MMA fight in Japan. It makes all the sense. I started my career internationally there, so we probably want to it end there, too. Let’s see if that happens.”

Anderson Silva Background

Silva was born in So Paulo, Brazil, on April 14, 1975. Being the son of a poor family, he spent much of his youth living with his aunt and uncle, who worked as police officers in Curitiba. When he was a young child, Silva began practicing jiu-jitsu with nearby children. Silva started learning taekwondo, capoeira, and muay thai as a teenager.

Before concentrating on MMA, Silva began boxing in 1998 and acquired a record of 1-1. At the BFC: Brazilian Freestyle Circuit 1, Silva made his MMA debut by defeating Fabricio Camoes through TKO (retirement) and Raimundo Pinheiro via first-round rear-naked choke submission.
