Devin Haney will have to pay a $25,000 fine he pushing Vasyl Lomachenko at the weigh-ins for their May bout. The Nevada Athletic Commission handed down the punishment on Tuesday after the Nevada Athletic Commission had withheld $400,000 of Haney’s purse following the violent confrontation with Lomachenko one day before their bout.
As a consequence of the adjudication agreement, Haney will be required to pay a $25,000 fine as well as $326 in prosecution expenses. The penalty will be deducted from the commission’s existing funds, and the remaining $400,000 will be handed to Haney.
After the commission initially filed a disciplinary case against Haney, the $400,000 withheld represented 10% of his $4 million prize.
Haney explained his behavior immediately after the push, stating, “that was just the start, you see how easy I pushed him? He’s a smaller man and I’m going to impose my will on him.”

Haney eventually defeated Lomachenko by unanimous decision to go to 30-0 in his career. After the commission agreed on a punishment for his infringement, he will now get the majority of the $400,000 money that was confiscated from his pocketbook.
Undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney defended his belts in the MGM Grand Garden on Saturday night, but not without a contentious decision that former three-division champion Vasiliy Lomachenko’s camp hopes to challenge.
Lomachenko controlled the latter rounds, outpunching Haney 124-110. However, much to the chagrin of the 14,436 spectators in attendance, Haney was declared the winner by all three judges. The bout was scored 115-113 by Tim Cheatham and David Sutherland, and 116-112 by Dave Moretti.
