Ferran Torres feels there’s been a big change at Barcelona since Xavi took over and he feels the team has now adapted to Xavi’s plans. The 21-year-old forward scored the equaliser in the 2-1 win over Elche on Sunday after coming off the Bench. The Catalan club didn’t have a great first-half having conceded through  Fidel Chaves’ goal on the stroke of half-time but Torres leveled the score on the hour mark and Memphis Depay netted a late winner to take all three points.

The victory helped Barcelona to third spot in the La Liga standings with 48 points from 26 games, level on points with fifth-placed Atletico Madrid who have played a game more, and 15 points adrift of the leaders Real Madrid. Meanwhile the Blaugrana are now unbeaten in 11 La Liga games under the Spanish tactician.

“There’s been a big change under Xavi,” Torres said according to Barca TV. “We’re playing with the style we want and that the coach has instilled in us. And we’re getting good results.

“It’s a tough place to come and they played a really physical game. I am really happy with the win and happy that my goal helped. Now we can think about Thursday’s game.

“We had the ball and the result came. I am happy to form part of this great team and to contribute. We have to keep going now.”

Torres joined Barca from Manchester city in the summer transfer window and took a while to get going. Although the forward has been under a bit of scrutiny for poor conversion rate he has the support of his boss. The Spaniard has netted three times and registered four assists in nine appearances for Barcelona.

Barcelona’s next match is against Galatasaray in the Europa League round of 16 first leg fixture at Camp Nou on Thursday.
