Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti will ‘probably’ retire after his job at Santiago Bernabeu is over. The Italian tactician on Saturday became the first manager in history with all five of Europe’s top leagues when the Los Blancos defeated Espanyol 4-0 to lift the 2021-22 La Liga title. The 62-year-old has now won league titles in Italy, England, Germany, France and Spain. Nobody has ever achieved this full-house of the so-called big five European leagues before.. The Espanyol win was the Los Blancos’ 25th league victory of their astonishing season, while they have also recorded six draws and three defeats. Rodrygo netted a first half double at Santiago Bernabeu before Marco Asensio extended the lead early in the second period and Karim Benzema’s late tap-in from Vinicius’ assist completed the drubbing to secure the win and Madrid’s 35th Spanish league title.

After Real, I probably stop: Ancelotti

“After Real, yes, I probably stop,” Ancelotti told Prime Video in an interview partially broadcast on Tuesday. “But if Real keep me here for 10 years, I’ll coach here for 10 years.” The Italian joined the Bernabeu outfit last summer from everton for a second stint and has a contract with the club till 2024. The Italian tactician has done a fantastic job with the Los Blancos to win the league with four games to spare. The result against Espanyol has helped Madrid to take an unassailable 17-point lead over second-placed Sevilla.

I would like to spend time with my grandchildren: Ancelotti

The Los Blancos boast the best attacking record in Spanish top flight football with 71 goals and the second-best defensive record behind Sevilla with only 29 goals conceded to date. Ancelotti has said that he wants to spend more time with his family and travel. But didn’t rule out the possibility of taking a national team job for the 2026 World Cup. “I would like to spend time with my grandchildren, go on holiday with my wife,” he added. “There are so many things that I have neglected and that I would like to do. Yes, there could be a national team but that’s premature for the moment.”

Next up is the Manchester City clash

Ancelotti has now won two trophies since returning to Bernabeu last summer, with success in La Liga following up their Supercopa de Espana final victory over Athletic Club in January. Though Madrid exited the Copa del Rey against the same opponent, they are very much on course to end the season with three trophies, as they remain in the hunt for Champions League glory. Los Blancos will welcome Manchester City for the second leg of the Champions League on Wednesday, aiming to overturn a one goal deficit after losing the first leg 4-3 at Etihad stadium.
