Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro insisted that his side aren’t taking anything for granted ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Chelsea. Despite Thomas Tuchel claiming last week that the Champions League tie is over. The Los Blancos secured a dominant 3-1 win at Stamford bridge last week courtesy of Karim Benzema’s hat-trick and have one foot firmly on the semi-finals. However, Tuchel was in a more upbeat mood when speaking to the media ahead of the second leg in Santiago Bernabeu and said “everything is possible”.

Casemiro insisted that his side won’t fall into the trap of believing that the last-8 tie is already wrapped up and the La Liga giants know they still have plenty of work to do to reach the last-4.

“We won’t fall for that,” Casemiro said of Tuchel’s comments after the first leg. “We played probably what was the best 90 minutes of our season in London last week and took a major step closer to qualifying for the semi-final but we can’t get overly confident.

“We all heard what Thomas Tuchel said. We don’t buy it. We know that it will be a tough game. They are defending champions and we won’t take this game lightly, I can assure you of that.

“We’ll need our fans to be there and support us from the beginning. We can’t get overconfident and need our fans to create a great atmosphere so we can advance to the semi-finals.”

Real Madrid are heading into the match on the back of a 2-0 La Liga win against Getafe and Casemiro was the scorer of the second goal in the weekend. The 30-year-old midfielder will have a pivotal role to play in front of the back four at Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s title defence is seemingly tattered after a catastrophic first leg loss, but Kai Havertz’ goal has at least given the Premier League side a slight glimmer of hope. After back-to-back defeats against Brentford and Real Madrid, Tuchel’s side responded pretty well, thrashing Southampton 6-0 on Saturday.

Tuchel’s side has no other choice but to go all-out-attack and therefore Real Madrid attackers are certainly going to get chances at the other end. With the kind of form Benzema is in, he doesn’t need too many invitations to get on the score-sheet.
