The first chance of the match fell to Federico Valverde on 18 minutes when the Uruguayan tested Getafe goalkeeper David Soria with a first-time volley from Karim Benzema’s diagonal ball. Real Madrid broke the deadlock on 38 minutes, when Vinicius Junior delivered a beautiful outswinging cross from the left channel with the outside of his right foot and Casmiro put the ball inside the net with a diving header. It was the Brazilian midfielder’s first goal of the season.

After the break, left-back Marcelo combined with Benzema before side-netting from inside the box and Valverde’s long-range effort went just wide.

Vazquez doubles the lead

Ancelotti’s side doubled the lead on 68 minutes. Vazquez played a nice little give-and-go with Rodrygo on the right side of the penalty area before depositing the ball into the far bottom corner with his left foot. Two minutes later, Eder Militao’s header from a corner went wide.

Getafe’s only effort on goal came in the injury time when Enes Unal’s shot skimmed off the far post. It was a dominant performance from Real Madrid as they had close to 70 percent ball possession and created 20 chances whereas Getafe failed to register even a single shot on target in the entire game.
