The Indian Premier League has seen 14 editions of the tournament being played. In this entire period, batters and bowlers have accumulated plenty of runs and wickets respectively. In this entire period, Virat Kohli has established himself as one of the greatest players in the history of the game. The former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper tops the charts for the most number of runs scored in the history of the IPL.

Kohli remains the only active player in the history of the IPL to play for one franchise. In 2016, Kohli pushed the barriers of excellence to another level by smashing 973 runs in a single edition of the tournament. His runs combined with most centuries in a single edition saw his greatness being established. When it comes to overseas players, David Warner leads the charts. The Australian left-hander has smashed over 5000 runs and is in an elite company. It was his 848 runs in IPL 2016 that gave his side Sunrisers Hyderabad their maiden IPL title. Here are the leading run-getters in the history of the IPL.
