IPL 2022 SRH vs GT: SunRisers Hyderabad beat Gujarat Titans' to inflict first loss of the season

Kane Williamson (57) and Abhishek Sharma (42) laid the foundation for SRH as they chased down the target with five balls to spare to beat GT by eight-wicket in the IPL 2022 clash at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Monday.

Chasing the target of 163 runs, Williamson and Sharma, forged a 64-run opening wicket-stand to keep SRH in cruise control. The India youngster hit six boundaries in his 32-ball knock before being sent back to the dressing room.

The SRH captain, however, continued to play a cautious knock with his partner Rahul Tripathi (17 retd hurt) having to leave the field after losing his balance and seemingly picking up a niggle in the middle. 
Williamson struck two boundaries and four sixes in his well-composed knock. 

Later, the chase looked like a cake walk, as Nicholas Pooran (34 not out) and Aiden Markram (12 not out) fired on all cylinders to help SRH cross the line. 

Gujarat Titans disappoint with bowling effort 

For GT, captain Hardik Pandya and spin ace Rashid Khan, picked up one wicket each but their bowling department was disappointing overall as they failed to find breakthrough at regular intervals. 

Hardik Pandya-Abhinav Manohar stitch key stand 

Earlier, Hardik Pandya (50 not out) played a captain’s knock to lead GT to 162/7 in the IPL 2022 clash against SRH. 

Asked to bat, Gujarat Titans top-order, Matthew Wade (19), Shubman Gill (7) and B Sai Sudharsan (11) failed to get their side to a good start. 

Pandya, however, looked unperturbed by the early blows as he played a responsible innings. But failed to find enough support in David Miller (12) who was sent packing after his 15-ball stay. 

The India all-rounder was, later, well complimented by Abhinav Manohar (35) as the duo stitched an important 50-run stand for the fifth wicket. The middle-order batter smashed five boundaries and one six in his 21-ball knock. 

Pandya, meanwhile, continued to anchor through the innings but Rahul Tewatia (6) and Rashid Khan (0) disappointed with the bat. 

The GT captain hit four boundaries and one six in his unbeaten knock off 42 deliveries. 

SRH fast bowlers display disciplined performance 

SRH fast bowlers T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up two wickets each to disallow GT from posting a big total. 

Fellow fast bowlers, Marco Jansen and Umran Malik, meanwhile, picked up one wicket each.
