Jos Buttler took time to settle in

Asked to bat, Buttler took his time to read the pitch and settle in, as he scored a little over a run-a-ball before opening up a late surge. He, however, lost his young opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal (4) early.

However, Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal (37), forged a partnership of 70-run for the second wicket to keep their side in a hunt for a big total. Padikkal hit two boundaries and as many sixes in his 29-ball knock.

Later, Buttler, was well complimented by his West Indies’ partner Shimron Hetmyer (42 not out) who took charge of the innings after RR captain Sanju Samson was sent packing for eight runs.

Buttler, who made the most of the death overs, smashed six sixes in his unbeaten knock while Hetmyer hit four boundaries and two sixes.

RCB struggle for breakthroughs

RCB leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga (1/32) and Harshal Patel (1/18) kept the RR batters in check with their variations but failed to find wickets at regular intervals of time.
England medium-pacer David Willey also chipped in with a scalp.
