RCB looked out-of-sorts

Chasing a modest total, former RCB captain Virat Kohli (9) promoted himself as an opener but his struggle to return back to form continued. He took 10 deliveries in the middle but failed to settle himself.

His opening partner and captain Faf du Plessis (23) was the highest run scorer for RCB, on a day when most of their batters looked out of sorts. The South African hit three boundaries and one six in his 21-ball knock.

Later, Rajat Patidar (16), played at a run-a-ball rate with all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (0) returning back for a first-ball duck.

Shahzad Ahmed (17) and Wanindu Hasaranga (18), meanwhile, were the only RCB batters to get amongst the double-figure mark following the dismissals.

Kuldeep Sen shines for RR

Sen returned his best match figures in IPL of 4/20 while Ravichandran Ashwin picked up a three-wicket haul and Prasidh Krishna scalped two wickets in an inch-perfect outing for the RR bowlers.

Sanju Samson-Riyan Parag show resilience

Earlier, RCB bowlers displayed a disciplined performance to restrict RR to 144/8.

Asked to bat, RR lost their top-order batters, Jos Buttler (8), Devdutt Padikkal (7) and Ravichandran Ashwin (17) inside the powerplay.

However, unperturbed by the early blows, RR captain Sanju Samson played a cautious knock of 27 runs off 21 balls which included one boundary and three hits over the fence.

Later, Daryl Mitchell, played a slow knock of 16 runs from 24 balls but young Riyan Parag (56 not out) held the fort for RR to hit a fine half-century. He, however, failed to find enough support from the other end.

Parag hit three boundaries and four sixes in his 31-ball unbeaten cameo.

Hazlewood-Hasaranga show for RCB

Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood continued to use his Test match experience to the fore as he returned figures of 2/19 while his spin bowling compatriot Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka scalped two wickets for 23 runs
