Anuj Rawat scored maiden IPL fifty

Chasing the decent target, RCB lost their captain Faf du Plessis (16), after a 50-run opening wicket stand with Rawat.

Rawat continued to display his batting prowess, after failing to get going in the initial matches, as he notched up his maiden IPL fifty. He was well complimented by former India and RCB captain Kohli as the duo took the game away from MI’s grasp.

Rawat and Kohli were involved in 80-run stand for the second wicket which set the momentum for a massive win for RCB. The opener hit two boundaries and six sixes in his 47-ball knock while the India star hit five fours in his 36-ball innings.

Later, incoming batters, Dinesh Karthik (7 not out) and Glenn Maxwell (8 not out) ensured a comfortable chase for RCB.

For Mumbai Indians, Jaydev Unadkat and Dewald Brevis, scalped a wicket each.

Suryakumar Yadav records 15th IPL half-century

Earlier, prolific India opener Suryakumar Yadav (68 not out) played a rescue innings to help Mumbai Indians reach a decent total of 151/6.

Asked to bat, Mumbai Indians openers Rohit Sharma (26) and Ishan Kishan (26), forged an opening wicket stand of 50 runs to get their side to a steady start. The Mumbai Indians captain hit four boundaries and one six in his 15-ball fiery cameo while the southpaw smashed three boundaries in his 28-ball stay.

However, from there on, it was one-man show for Mumbai Indians as Yadav went about his innings slowly as wickets continue to fall on the other end — Tilak Varma (0), Kieron Pollard (0), Ramandeep Singh (6) — in quick succession to leave the five-time champions reeling at 79/6.

The prolific Yadav, then, changed gears to open a late surge in the death overs and even scored 23 runs off the penultimate over to forge a 72 runs unbeaten match-changing partnership with Jaydev Unadkat (13 not out).

Yadav hit five boundaries and six sixes in his unbeaten knock off 37 deliveries.

It was, however, Harshal Patel (2/23) and spin wizard Wanindu Hasaranga (2/28) who ran through the Mumbai Indians top-order to restrict them to a decent total.
