IPL 2022 LSG vs CSK: Evin Lewis, Quinton de Kock fire Lucknow Super Giants to thrilling six-wicket victory

Evin Lewis (55 not out), Quinton de Kock (61) played quick-fire knocks to help Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) chase down the target of 211 runs in 19.3 overs with six-wicket in hand against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2022 clash at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Thursday. 

Quinton de Kock-KL Rahul gave LSG a head-start 

In the chase, de Kock and KL Rahul (40), forged an opening partnership of 99 runs before the latter was sent packing to allow LSG take a head start in the mammoth chase. The LSG captain struck two boundaries and three sixes in his stay of 26 deliveries while de Kock hit nine boundaries. 

Incoming batter Manish Pandey (5), meanwhile, failed to get going while Lewis put up an exhibition show with his power-hitting abilities. He hit the fastest half-century in IPL 2022 off just 23 deliveries. His unbeaten knock was laced with five boundaries and three hits over the fence. 

Deepak Hooda (13) and in-form Ayush Badoni (19 not out), later, chipped in with crucial cameos to help LSG record their first win in the lucrative tournament. 

For CSK, Dwaine Pretorius was the pick of the bowlers as he returned figures of 2/31.

Robin Uthappa-Shivam Dube guide CSK to big total 

Earlier, Robin Uthappa (50) used his experience to the fore to guide CSK to 210/7 against LSG. 

Asked to bat, Uthappa set the tone for the match with his brilliance, which included some fine shots around the ground. He, however, lost his opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad (1) to a silly run-out. 

Uthappa smashed eight boundaries and one six in his 27 ball knock. 

Later, English all-rounder Moeen Ali  (35) hit four boundaries and two sixes in his 22-ball knock with Shivam Dube (49) making most of the licence given to him. The India all-rounder hit five boundaries and two sixes in his stay of 30 deliveries. 

Incoming batters Ambati Rayudu (27), Ravindra Jadeja (17), MS Dhoni (16 not out), then chipped in with important cameos to help the side read a challenging total at the Brabourne Stadium which has smaller boundaries. 

Ravi Bishnoi shines with the ball for LSG

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was the most economical bowler for LSG as he returned figures of 2/24. 

Fast bowlers Avesh Khan and Andrew Tye also scalped two wickets but leaked runs at around 10 runs per over.
