English opener Jos Buttler (116) put up an exhibition of one of the finest T20 knocks on show to guide RR to 222/2 against DC in the IPL 2022 clash at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Friday. This is the highest total scored by any franchise in the IPL 2022 so far.

Jos Buttler-Devdutt Padikkal forge strong opening stand 

Asked to bat, Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal (54), made merry of the Delhi Capitals bowlers to forge an opening stand of 155 runs. It was an all guns blazing approach from both the ends with the left-handed batter hitting seven boundaries and two sixes in his 35-ball knock.

Sanju Samson fires for RR

Buttler, meanwhile, continued the onslaught and was later, helped on, by captain Sanju Samson (46 not out) who made his intentions clear from the word go as he smashed five boundaries and three sixes in his unbeaten 19-ball cameo and batted at an astonishing strike rate of 242.11. 

The Englishman, on the other hand, hit nine boundaries and as many sixes in his 65-ball knock. 

Delhi Capitals toil hard for wickets

Delhi Capitals bowlers toiled hard for wickets but leaked runs in abundance. 

Fast bowlers Khaleel Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, who picked up a wicket each, also conceded more than 10 runs per over.
