Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting is in isolation after one of his family members tested positive for Covid-19. The former Australia captain will, thus, miss out on the clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Friday.

His absence will mean that Delhi Capitals’ support staff Pravin Amre, James Hopes, Ajit Agarkar, Shane Watson will take charge of the proceedings. This development comes after top-order batter Tim Seifert became the latest to test positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.

Ponting, meanwhile, tested negative twice. But the management said that “in the best interest of the team, the management and medical team has decided that he will remain in isolation for five days”.

He is expected to join the franchise for their next fixture on April 28 against Kolkata Knight Riders.
