Maheesh Theekshana (4/33) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/39) displayed disciplined bowling performance to restrict RCB to 193/9 and clinch victory by 23 runs to record their first win in IPL 2022 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Tuesday.

Chasing a mammoth target of 217 runs, RCB got off to a poor start, as they lost their top-order batters Faf du Plessis (8), Anuj Rawat (12) and Virat Kohli (1) in quick succession.

Dinesh Karthik fireworks continue in IPL 2022

However, later, Glenn Maxwell (26), Shahbaz Ahmed (41), Suyash Prabhudessai (34) and Dinesh Karthik (34), played important cameos but failed to convert their start into a match-winning knock.

The veteran India wicket keeper-batter continued on his purple patch to notch up two boundaries and three sixes in his 14-ball cameo to keep RCB in the leather hunt but could not keep going till the end.

Tailender Mohammed Siraj, meanwhile, contributed with an unbeaten knock off 14 runs from 11 deliveries to keep their net run rate in check.

Robin Uthappa-Shivam Dube record highest individual IPL scores

Earlier, Robin Uthappa (88) and Shivam Dube (95) put up an exhibition of quick-fire cameo knocks on display to guide CSK to a mammoth 215/5.

Asked to bat, CSK opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad (17) was the first wicket to fall. But Uthappa went about his innings calmly to pile on the misery on the RCB bowlers as he even failed to get enough support from Moeen Ali who was run out for three runs.

However, from there on, it turned out to be a run scoring fest for CSK and Uthappa and Dube took the RCB bowlers to the cleaners and forged the highest partnership in IPL 2022 of 165 runs for the third wicket.

The opener hit four boundaries and nine sixes in his well composed 50-ball knock while the all-rounder smashed eight hits over the fence and five fours in his brilliant cameo of 45 deliveries.

Captain Ravindra Jadeja, however, fell for a first ball duck while former skipper MS Dhoni (0) not out took a backseat to watch the Dube fireworks from the other end.

Wanindu Hasaranga picks up two scalps for RCB

RCB bowlers toiled hard for breakthroughs but gave away plenty of runs with Sri Lanka leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga picking up two wickets while Australia fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood chipped in with one.
