The 2023 Men’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup is the 13th edition of the Men’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup. It is a biennial men’s under-21 field hockey world championship organized by the International Hockey Federation. This year’s edition is scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the Malaysia National Hockey Stadium. A total of 16 teams are scheduled to take part in the Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2023. This includes hosts Malaysia who have qualified automatically and 15 other nations who qualified via the continental championships.

Thursday will see Pakistan take on New Zealand in the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023. The Pakistani team is ranked twelfth in the FIH World Junior Hockey rankings. On the other hand, the New Zealand team is ranked thirteenth in the FIH World Junior Hockey rankings. Heading into Thursday’s match, both teams have got mixed and contrasting results on their platter on the opening day. Pakistan came from behind to draw the match against the Netherlands which was swinging like a see-saw (3-3). In contrast, New Zealand was thumped by a well-prepared Belgian side in a 4-0 showdown. Naturally, the next game becomes very important for the black sticks if they are to stay in the race in Pool D. But, it’s not gonna be a cakewalk against a spirited Pakistani side who have already shown their mettle against the Dutch.
