The Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2023, which will take place in Salalah, Oman from May 23 to June 1. The groupings have placed India in Pool A alongside arch-rivals Pakistan. The Women’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2023 will be held in Kakamigahara, Japan, from June 2 to June 11, 2023, according to the announcement made by the Asian Hockey Federation. The Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey Tournament will feature a total of 10 different countries. Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Thailand, and Uzbekistan are also competing alongside the Indian men’s hockey team.

Based on their global rankings, the top five teams, which included India, Pakistan, Japan, Korea, and Malaysia, automatically qualified for the Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2023. In the Men’s Junior AHF Cup, which was held in Muscat in January, Bangladesh, Oman, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Chinese Taipei earned qualifying spots. The top three teams from the competition will be invited to compete in the FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2023, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur from December 5 to 16. Malaysia automatically qualified because they were the hosts.

The Pool A of the Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2023 will consist of Japan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, India, and Pakistan. Whereas Bangladesh, South Korea, Malaysia, Oman, and Uzbekistan will make up Pool B. India has made it to the tournament’s finals five times, taking home three championships (in 2004, 2008, and 2015) and placing second twice (1996, 2000).

Groups for the 2023 Men’s Junior Asia Cup

Pool A consists of China Taipei, India, Pakistan, Japan, and Thailand. Meanwhile, Pool B includes Bangladesh, South Korea, Malaysia, Oman, and Uzbekistan. While also featuring 10 teams, the Women’s Junior Asia Cup. Pool A includes Chinese Taipei, Korea, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, and India. Kazakhstan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, and China make up Pool B.

Based on their global rankings, the top five teams—India, China, Korea, Japan, and Malaysia—got the automatic qualification, while Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia did so through the Women’s Junior AHF Cup, which will be held in Taldykorgan, Kazakhstan, in October 2022. The top three teams will advance to the 2023 Women’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, which will be held in Santiago, Chile from December 6 to 17. India’s best performance in hockey’s Women’s Junior Asia Cup occurred in 2012 when they came in second. Athletes born on or after January 1, 2002, are eligible to compete in the men’s and women’s tournaments.

Groups for the 2023 Junior Women’s Asia Cup

India, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan are all in pool A. Whereas Pool B includes Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, and China.
