Jin Young Ko, commonly called Jin Young Ko, is a South Korean professional golfer who competes on the LPGA Tour. She was born on July 7, 1995. Jin Young Ko finished second in the 2015 Ricoh Women’s British Open, won the 2017 LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship, and had won ten times on the LPGA of Korea Tour by the time she was 22 years old. She joined the LPGA Tour for the 2018 season and became the second player in LPGA history to win in her maiden event on the Tour when she won the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open in February. Jin Young Ko finished the 2018 season as the 10th-ranked female player in the world and was crowned the LPGA Rookie of the Year after finishing 13 out of 25 tournaments in the top 10.
She won the ANA Inspiration and the Evian Championship in 2019, her first two major LPGA titles. Ko won the Vare Trophy for having the lowest scoring average (69.06), the official money title ($2,773,894), and the title of LPGA Player of the Year at the end of the 2019 season. Despite only participating in four tournaments because of the COVID-19 pandemic, she won the LPGA official money title ($1,667,925) in 2020 and concluded the season as the top-ranked player in the world. Ko took home the official money title and the LPGA Player of the Year awards in 2021.
Ko turned professional in 2013 at the age of 18, and from 2014 to 2017, she won ten times on the LPGA of Korea Tour. Her first professional victory came in August 2014 when she won the Nefs Masterpiece. She finished second in the Ricoh Women’s British Open in 2015.
